Press Release:
We’d like to announce the second exhibition of “We Are One”, to assist with the ongoing earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis relief efforts in Japan.
It’s been approximately eight months since the tragedy in northeastern Japan. The Japanese people are still struggling to find peace of mind as they face an on-going nuclear crisis, and many people in the disaster areas still do not have homes.
Some experts say it will take more than 10 years for a full recovery of Japan. We feel strongly that it is necessary to continuously support Japan with a long-term perspective.
The “We Are One- Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Crisis Relief Exhibition” held at the New York Institute of Technology on April 11th, 2011 was a big success. Over 100 artists contributed their time and artworks, and the joint efforts created an unforgettable experience for all artists and volunteers. We were able to raise over $17,000, of which 100% of the proceeds went to the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund. Thank you again for making that exhibition a reality.
Camel Art Space and WE ARE ONE’s second benefit exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, 2011.
The art work will be sold at an affordable price below $200, to ensure that many works will be bought during this one-day event. The works will be sold on a first come basis, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund, a reputable fund that works diligently at ensuring all the money goes to the places in Japan where it is needed most.
We sincerely hope you will support the effort and come to WE ARE ONE.

These paintings were generated over the course of about 15 hours. Each one is 6″x12″ and the intent is to group them into larger compositions.
Overall, the experience was extremely valuable to me in that it gave me an opportunity to explore ALOT of different color compositions in a very short period of time.
Medium: Enamel Paint on Masonite
Size: 6″x12″

Title: The Kelpie
Size: 24″ x 44″
Medium: Enamel on Masonite
The Kelpie is a mythical creature that takes the form of a wet horse to draw children and weary travelers near them. If one tries to pet or mount the horse, the skin gets extremely sticky and the Kelpie drags the person into the darkest depths of the nearest body of water. I think the moral to the story is to keep your hands off another man’s horse…
UPDATE: They apparently call the Kelpie a “Nuggle” on the Orkney Islands. Gaelic has some awfully cute words for dreadful monsters.
Titles: Contemplations of the Penultimate Dodo Studies 1-4
Size: 12″ x 18″ each
Medium: Enamel on Masonite
Title: Rosicrucian Quadrant #7 & #8
Dimensions: 18″ x 36″
Medium: Oil Based Enamel Paint on Plywood
This piece is the next in the line of my shipping crate paintings (#5 & #6 were damaged in the move to my new studio). As with #3 & #4, these paintings fold together and can be shipped without using any packaging.
If you are interested in buying this painting, I am donating it to the Open Space Alliance of North Brooklyn’s online art auction on December 4th. You can find out more on the auction here. OSA is a great organization that is working hard to increase the green space in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area. You can also thank them for cosponsoring the Pool Parties.
update: SOLD!!!
Series Title: The Bacchae- Pentheus, Dionysus, and Thyrsus
Medium: Oil Enamel on Masonite
Size: 48″ x 24″ each
I did not intend intend for these paintings to be a series but when I placed them side by side this past Friday, I could not get over the affect caused by them as one unit. I guess you can chalk it up to gestalt if you lean that way, but regardless these painting vibrate together. I’ve named it the Bacchae as it is a celebration of so much of what I have been working toward with my foray into painting. Instinctual forms that embrace the materiality of the medium and create a visual experience that surpass the sum of its parts.
Title: Tigris & Euphrates
Medium: Oil Based Enamel on Plywood
Dimensions: 24″ x 48″
